As a Plant Engineer you will be responsible for supporting the operations and maintenance of the plant, ensuring efficient, safe and compliant processing of hazardous waste materials. This role will oversee the technical aspects of plant operations, including process optimization, equipment maintenance, and adherence to regulatory standards.Essential Functions & Requirements:
- Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
- Monitors and optimizes incineration processes to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime
- Ensures that all plant systems are functioning within established parameters and safety standards
- Collaborates with operations staff to troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise in the plant
- Develops and implements preventive and predictive maintenance programs to reduce unplanned downtime
- Leads diagnosing and resolving equipment malfunctions or failures
- Partners with the maintenance team to plan and coordinate scheduled shutdowns and repairs
- Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations regarding hazardous waste management and incineration processes
- Participates in safety audits and incident investigations to promote a safe working environment
- Collects and analyzes operational data to support performance monitoring and reporting
- Documents maintenance activities and prepares reports as required
- Analyzes plant data to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reduction
- Implements engineering solutions to enhance plant performance, including upgrades to existing systems and the integration of new technologies
- Leads or supports engineering projects related to plant upgrades, expansions, or new construction
- Manages project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful completion
- Coordinates with contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to achieve project goals
- Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization
- Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering (required)
- Previous related engineering experience including co-ops or internships (preferred)
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and hazardous waste management
- Familiarity with safety regulations and environmental compliance requirements
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail
- Effective communication skills to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work in a dynamic and challenging environment
- Regular and predictable attendance to perform the functions and requirements of this role
