
System VP Financial Controller

- Oversees all aspects of financial management, including but not limited to, compliance with PeaceHealth financial policies and Medicare, Medicaid and other regulatory parameters affecting the financial operations of the Network.
- Oversees the ongoing development of the appropriate level of financial internal controls throughout the System, including the annual financial statement audit. Coordinates system-wide operational improvement process.
- Oversees daily accounting functions such as fixed assets, construction accounting, sundry billing, joint venture accounting, tax issues, general accounting issues, financial statement preparation, analysis and external audit preparation work. Provides reports and statements for all key stakeholders, and external resources as appropriate to ensure compliance as well as submitting them within established timeframes.
- Leads efforts to implement and maintain efficient reporting system to effectively capture financial data. Reviews and coordinates financial reporting techniques to help make the most effective use of resources. Provides management and staff education on financial reporting to provide a greater understanding of reporting requirements. Reports the financial results on a regular basis, assuring that financial reporting and analyses are tailored to the unique needs of each business unit.
- Directs, controls and is accountable for the Treasury department. Develops long and short term business strategies, operational plans and oversees implementation. Manages the design, structure, development and planning issues within scope of direction. Ensures for quality, service and regulatory compliance for areas of responsibility.
- Manages the affairs for PeaceHealth in regard to banking and treasury management, investment management, debt financing, liquidity management and capital planning as it relates to system-wide finance. Serves as key interface between PeaceHealth and its outside investors, money managers, trustees, custodians and its internal customers at the community delivery systems and System Services Center.
- Ensures oversight of property management across PeaceHealth. Prepare, administer and monitor the annual capital and operating budgets for all properties managed or leased.
- Manages month end and year end closing process, reports, statements and meeting associated deadlines, coordination of external audit.
- Performs or reviews complex accounting transactions such as a/r reserves, 3rd party reserves and other complex or confidential business transactions to ensure quality, accuracy and determine where there are gaps or areas for improvement in policy, procedures and work product. Responsible for developing enhancements, recommending changes and implementing improvements.
- Leads and oversees the regional analysis and reporting for governmental reimbursement programs (e.g. Medicare, Medicaid, etc.).
- Leads and oversees the PeaceHealth tax strategy, such as WA B&O taxes, Federal 990 reporting, Provider taxes, and property taxes.
- Manages overall organization, operation, personnel, for area of responsibility. Directs recruitment, training and evaluation of caregivers. Implements and maintains productivity reporting tools for real-time evaluation of staffing and productivity.
- Develops and implements plans to meet or exceed customer needs and simultaneously assuring excellent quality and service outcomes. Completes other projects as requested to ensure the efficient, cost-effective operation of the department and company.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Master's Degree Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or related field or a combination of education and professional experience that provides the caregiver with the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the job.
- Minimum of 10 years of Healthcare financial management and accounting setting and/or with a major accounting firm with good exposure to third party reimbursement and managed care.
- Minimum of 10 years management experience.
- Preferred: Certified Public Accountant
- Ability to deliver financial results for areas of accountability.

- Thorough knowledge and understanding of accounting and financial reporting policies and procedures in a hospital environment.
- Working knowledge of hospital’s accounting and data processing information systems.
