
Tunnelling Design Engineer

- Leading and supporting design of tunnels, shafts, and related underground structures.
- Performing geotechnical and structural analyses, including ground-structure interaction and lining design.
- Preparing plans, specifications, and technical reports for municipal tunneling projects.
- Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver creative and constructible solutions.
- Supporting clients during the full project lifecycle, including feasibility studies, risk assessments, and construction support.
- Developing cost estimates, schedules, and technical documentation.
- Maintaining open and effective communication with clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
- Staying current with evolving tunneling technologies, codes, and standards.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE), or ability to obtain within six months.
- 5+ years of experience in tunneling design, underground structures, or related projects.
- Knowledge of tunneling methods (TBM, SEM/NATM, microtunneling, cut-and-cover, etc.).
- Experience with design tools such as PLAXIS, FLAC, GeoStudio, or STAAD.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- A collaborative mindset and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
- Experience supporting infrastructure projects (water, wastewater, utilities, transportation).
- Hands-on exposure to construction support and monitoring for tunneling projects.
- Familiarity with project permitting and funding sources.
