Job DescriptionPiedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education that serves Central Virginia - principally residents of the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson. Our scenic campus is located in Albemarle County, Virginia. We are one of 23 community colleges in Virginia that comprise the Virginia Community College System (VCCS).PVCC is accepting applications for a part-time afternoon circulation assistant, Monday through Friday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters; 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday during the summer semester. This position works only when classes are in session and is part time, with no benefits, and does not exceed 29 hours/week.Department: LibraryJob Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides circulation assistance to patrons by checking library materials in and out, including both books and equipment.
  • Provides frontline support by helping patrons both in-person and over the phone.
  • Assists patrons with printing and using the computers, troubleshooting problems and routing issues to the appropriate department.
  • Processes Interlibrary Loan lending requests, sending electronic and physical materials to other libraries.
  • Re-shelves library materials and helps maintain the stacks in good order.
  • Creates promotional materials as assigned, such as signs, displays, and blog posts.
  • Tracks statistics on questions asked and Interlibrary Loan requests processed.
  • Monitors the library for any problems and reports issues to the Access Services Librarian or Library Director.
  • Willing to provide coverage for other part-time shifts as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
.Special AssignmentsMay be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
