
KIPP NYC Advocacy Manager

- Maintain and expand family leader base through high quality, mission-driven family engagement events and trainings
- Support and execute KIPP NYC’s community stakeholder outreach program
- Support Regional Family Advisory (RFAC) meetings
- Lead voter registration efforts for KIPP NYC
- Attend Community and NECN Parent council meetings, CEC and CB meetings with families and Advocacy coordinators, including meeting coordination and briefings
- Attend and Engage PTA and School Family Council meetings to build meaningful relationships with staff and families
- Support school-based advocacy coordinators in meeting advocacy goals
- Serve as a regional liaison to the NY Alumni Association
- Manage all data pertaining to advocacy work in the database including outreach to elected officials, parent/alumni participation, and other relevant metrics.
- Local travel to KIPP NYC schools and evening community events, travel to Albany for advocacy events
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with key community stakeholders, including local police precincts, youth-serving Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), neighborhood associations, and civic leaders to support student and family needs.
- Facilitate regional workshops or engagement opportunities, and cross-collaborate with school-based programmatic workshops and engagement opportunities that connect families and students with trusted community resources and services.
- Build trust and rapport with youth and families by regularly attending school-based and community events and being a visible presence across campuses and neighborhoods.
- Bachelor’s degree required. 3+ years experience in K-12 education and/or community relations preferred; Spanish fluency a plus
- Enthusiastic with strong interest in and commitment to education reform, with a strong ability to communicate clearly and persuasively, including written word and speaking in small and large group settings
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop productive working relationships with multiple stakeholders across the organization
- Proficiency using Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office Suite, advanced data skills required
- Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to produce high-quality work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
