Position SummaryWe’re looking for a dependable, service-minded Part-Time Adult Program Assistant to support the daily operations of our adult education classes. This role ensures that both students and volunteer teachers feel supported and prepared, contributing to a smooth, effective, and inclusive learning experience.This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, values education, and wants to make a meaningful impact in the local community.
Key ResponsibilitiesVolunteer & Classroom Support
  • Assist with onboarding and supporting volunteer teachers
  • Maintain volunteer schedules and class rosters
  • Prepare and organize teaching materials and classroom technology
  • Serve as classroom support or substitute, as needed
  • Assist with volunteer events and communication
Student Support
  • Help with student registration, intake, orientation, and placement
  • Communicate with students via phone, email, and text
  • Track attendance and engagement in student databases
  • Support testing, recognition events, and student referrals
📋 Program & Administrative Assistance
  • Assist the Program Manager with tracking data for reports
  • Maintain organized records and classroom supply inventory
  • Coordinate the distribution of instructional materials
  • Support communication between campus and central office
  • Help plan workshops, events, and program activities
Technology & Facilities Support
  • Set up and troubleshoot classroom technology (projectors, printers, laptops, etc.)
  • Report equipment or facility issues
  • Help with classroom setup and cleanup
Community Engagement Support
  • Support local outreach and flyer distribution
  • Represent Literacy Achieves at community events or fairs
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; college coursework or certifications a plus
  • Experience in educational, nonprofit, or community settings (paid or volunteer)
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Basic tech skills and confidence solving common tech issues
  • Friendly, organized, and dependable
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred
  • Availability for some evening shifts aligned with class times
Work Environment & Culture
