Capitol Aggregates is seeking a motivated Staff Accountant and Collections Specialist to join our accounting team at the corporate office in San Antonio. This dual-role position supports both general accounting and accounts receivable functions, with a strong emphasis on collections. You’ll be responsible for preparing journal entries, assisting in financial reporting, and managing customer accounts to secure timely payments. This role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, persistence in follow-up, and a service-minded approach to resolving issues.What You’ll DoPrepare general ledger entries and assist with monthly account reconciliations.Support interim and annual financial audits.Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements.Monitor the accounts receivable aging report and take consistent action on overdue balances.Communicate with customers via phone and email to follow up on unpaid invoices.Collaborate with internal teams to resolve payment disputes and secure resolution.Escalate high-risk accounts or unresolved collection issues to management.Prepare and manage documentation for bonds and liens, as needed.Maintain clear, accurate records and safeguard financial data.Contribute to special projects and department initiatives as assigned.What You’ll BringBachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).1–3 years of experience in collections preferred.Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.Effective written and verbal communication skills, especially for managing collections.Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.Prior experience in construction materials or a related industry is a plus.Why You’ll Love This Job
