Job Description:Job OverviewFairview has an immediate opening for a Surgical Technologist for the Operating Room at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN.As a Surgical Technologist, you’ll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, arranging and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining the safety and efficiency of the operating room.Our Surg techs work as a part of a strong team and their cases include, but are not limited to, general, dental, ear, nose, and throat, endoscopy, vascular, thoracic, open heart, orthopedics, neurology, bariatrics, solid organ transplant, gynecologic, colo-rectal, urology, plastics, and Da Vinci robotics.Schedule: This position will be working 0.8 FTE (64 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 8 hours, primarily day shift, with occasional evening/night shifts. This position will also work a weekend rotation of approximately one weekend per month.This role offers a $6000 New Hire Sign On Bonus and a generous relocation bonus up to $5000.About our OR at UMMC East Bank:
  • The East Bank Campus is a teaching hospital and has 24 newly renovated Operating Rooms.
  • Our Operating Room is performing an average of 60 cases per day.
  • We provide innovative surgical suites, including a hybrid suite and intraoperative MRI suites, for adult patients needing surgical intervention.

. Come join our team today!As a Surgical Technologist, you will be responsible for:
  • Supplying appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items.
  • Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures.
  • Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens.
  • Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments.
  • Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment.
  • Modifying clinical interventions based on population served.
  • Nurturing a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking.
  • Anticipating the surgeon’s needs.
  • Following appropriate action in emergency situations.
Required Qualifications:
  • Complete one of the following by hire date:
  • Military Surgical Assistant; OR
  • LPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant; OR
  • Surgical Technologist training
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program
  • AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire
  • 1 to 3 years surgical tech experience
Other Required Skills:
  • Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of population served.
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate outcomes and interventions.
Desired Skills:
  • Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations.
  • Ability to work well under a team environment.
