Skills and ExperienceYou'll need to hit the ground running with a passion for working with younger children on speech and language skills. The school is approximately 2/3 dual-language students, so it's critical to have the expertise to distinguish between language barrier and speech/articulation delays. (Bilingual skills would be a bonus but are not required.)Your skill set should include experience in:Speech and Language DevelopmentArticulation and PhonologyPragmatics and Early Literacy SupportIdentifying speech vs. language-based needs? First-Day Experience and OnboardingYour first day will involve a dedicated onboarding process where the Special Education Administrator will:Review access and logins for school systemsProvide an overview of processes and expectationsHelp you get familiar with the school, its layout, and the scheduleEnsure you feel confident and ready to support students successfully? A Typical WeekYour primary focus will be early-intervention with Kindergarten and 1st grade students, identifying those who need speech therapy versus language support.
Your responsibilities will include:Conducting speech/language screenings and therapy sessionsSupporting students in articulation, phonology, language development, pragmatics, fluency, and play-based early literacyProviding therapy to students with higher needs in 2nd-5th grade as needed, especially those in self-contained or resource special education classesCompleting IEP reviews and writing SLP goals and progress updatesBuilding relationships with students, parents, and team members?
