This position plays a key role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, including hiring, onboarding, offboarding, employee record maintenance, and payroll support. This position’s duties are intended to be shared equally between HR and payroll responsibilities, though workloads may flex one way or the other at times, depending on department initiatives/deadlines. This position will receive daily direction for HR associated tasks from the Sr. HR Generalist and HR Generalist, in addition to being direct reports of the Director of HR and Director of Payroll Compliance & HRIS.Your Contributions and ResponsibilitiesHuman Resources
  • Assist with the hiring process for new employees, which includes confirming offer details, preparing offer letters and employment agreements, and initiating candidate background checks.
  • Ensure new hire technical set-up, review new hire paperwork for accuracy/completion and confirm employment eligibility using E-Verify; assist with other on-boarding activities as needed.
  • Assist in coordinating the employee off-boarding process, such sending as last day e-mail instructions and submitting notifications of separation to IT.
  • Review and route HR and payroll service tickets submitted through the internal ticketing system (ISM) to the appropriate team member for timely resolution.
  • Provide backup support for maintenance of employee personnel files.
  • May assist with a variety of administrative tasks in support of other functional areas of HR, as needed.
  • Provide backup support for various HR functions as needed to ensure continuity of service.
Payroll
  • Set new hires up in HRIS, the time entry program, and third-party benefit sites.
  • Assist the Payroll Specialist with calculating final checks, including wage and tax adjustments, for separating employees in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate employee records in HRIS and other systems, including updates related to stipends, job changes, and other employment-related data.
  • Generate regular and ad hoc payroll reports, as needed.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and/or HR with a focus on accuracy and service.
  • Follow-up on returned mail to ensure accurate addresses are on record.
  • Assist with various payroll and HR duties and projects as assigned.
Your Background and SkillsMinimum Qualifications:· High school diploma plus 1-2 years of work experience in an office environment, or in a customer service position, and/or appropriate balance of education and work experience.Preferred Qualifications:· Bachelor’s degree and experience in human resources or payroll.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Perform work accurately with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet frequent strict deadlines and have a strong sense of urgency.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive work-related information.
  • Strong computer skills, including solid skill in the Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel) and familiarity with a variety of HR software programs (Paychex Flex, Taleo, Workday, and Flock preferred).
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends based on position needs. Required work on a weekend is rare and would primarily apply only in situations when there are tight turnarounds on payroll deadlines.

  • Compensation: $41,000 to $47,000 depending on experience. More is possible if experience dictates.
