This long term sub assignment can be filled by either a school psychologist or a school social worker. Below are the qualifications for both:School PsychologistQualifications:
  • State of Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) as a school psychologist.
  • Master's, Educational Specialist or Doctorate degree with a major in School Psychology.
  • Strong background in testing and measurement.
  • Experience in counseling and crisis intervention.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with parents and members of our community.
  • Experience working with special education students
General Responsibilities:
  • Assist in completing the Special Education domain and eligibility process.
  • Serve as Local Education Agency Representative at IEP meetings.
  • Conduct diagnostic psychological testing and write social-developmental histories.
  • Write IEP goals and provide counseling minutes for students.
  • Assist teams in developing behavior intervention plans for General Education and Special Education students.
  • Assist in completing the special education domain and eligibility process.
  • Write initial 504 Plans and provide case management.
  • Provide intervention assistance to students, families and staff.
  • Provide consultation services to the Student Services team, teachers, and administration.
  • Provide classroom- based interventions/presentations in collaboration with teachers.
  • Provide direct and indirect treatment for students and families.
  • Implement evidenced based group counseling curriculum.
  • Assist in coordinating post-secondary transition support for students.
  • Serve as building Homeless Liaison along with APSS.
  • Lead an intervention team of counselors, case managers, and administrators.
  • Follow directives of Special Education Division Head and Assistant Principal for Student Services.
School Social WorkerQualifications:
  • State of Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Social Worker Endorsement.
General Responsibilities:
  • Act as Local Education Agency (LEA) Representative for Annual Review, Eligibility Determination, and Domain meetings.
  • Facilitates in the development of necessary forms and legal documentation for special education meetings and paperwork.
  • Case Manage and facilitate 504 accommodation plans for assigned students.
  • Provide individual and group counseling support across a diverse student population.
  • Be willing to work with outside agencies to present pro-active programming for student needs.
  • Function as a member of an Early Intervention Team with counselors and case managers.
  • Actively participate in the Related Services Professional Learning Team and the District Related Services Leadership Team.
  • Actively seek out articulation opportunities with sender school staff.
  • Facilitate home/hospital placements and 504 plans for students within assigned alignment.
  • Act as a member of the PBIS team.
  • Serve as Homeless Liaison.
  • Participate in parent support programs.
  • Complete social histories as part of the case study evaluation process.
  • Complete adaptive behavior scales.
  • Complete simple and complex behavior plans.
  • Work with teachers in classrooms to assist students.
  • Network with outside agencies and work with students and families to access these services.
  • Supervise a social work intern (optional).
  • Follow directives of Assistant Principal of Student Services and Division Head of Special Education.
