
Substance Abuse Counselor

- Counselor will conduct individual and group counseling sessions.
- Coordinate care of assigned patients and present patient status and concerns with treatment team accordingly.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and the development and implementation of patient treatment plans according to State regulatory requirements
- Provide clinical services and patient care and education and opiate addiction counseling services to patients
- Excellent documentation and computer skills required
- Other related duties as determined by supervisor
- Master’s Degree or higher in fields like chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with clinical specialization), or a related field with practical experience, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting. A plan is required if the experience is not in this setting.
- Bachelor’s Degree in specified fields and 1 year of clinical experience (1,820 hours), preferably in a drug and alcohol setting. A plan is needed if the experience is elsewhere.
- Associate Degree in specified fields and 2 years of clinical experience (3,640 hours), preferably in a drug and alcohol setting. A plan is required if the experience is in a different setting.
- Full certification as an addictions counselor from a statewide certification body that is a member of a National certification body or certification by another state government’s substance abuse counseling certification board.
- Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward our patient population
- Understanding of an EMR system (electronic medical records)
- Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
