- Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures. Attend safety meetings and participate in safety program.
- Weighing and purchasing inbound scrap, obtaining required information from customers for all transactions, complete purchasing and shipping documents and daily reconciliation of transactions.
- Responsible for following all legal requirements on purchasing materials.
- Communicate pricing information and material specifications to customers with the ability to connect well with all levels of customers and management.
- Ensure good customer relations by acting in a courteous, safe and professional manner.
- Interact with employees on other scales to verify/restrict duplication of purchases.
- Inspect materials for non-acceptable items
- Ensure metals that are purchased are correct and properly classified.
- Control traffic patterns in yard and direct customers to proper location to unload materials.
- Willing to cross-train in other positions and assist other employees as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, non-stop environment while providing excellent customer service.
- Minimum of 3-years previous customer service preferably in the scrap metal or construction industries.
- Must be able to work well under pressure and meet critical deadlines.
- Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions, work independently, multitask and have excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Take an organized approach to work and work area. Demonstrate good work ethic and is dependable.
- Ability to work standing or walking for up to 12 hours per day.
- Ability to adapt to frequent changes of priority and complete job tasks safely and effectively without constant supervision.
- Computer experience, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and the ability to learn in house systems.
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
- Flexible to work overtime, off-hours, weekends, and holidays in an industrial environment which includes being outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Candidates within 50 miles preferred.
