- Installation, troubleshooting and repair of complex networked and non-networked fire alarm systems with limited or no supervision
- Assisting our Construction Fire Alarm Division in troubleshooting, inspecting and testing large scale networked fire alarm/mass notification systems for extended periods of time
- Perform fire alarm, sprinkler, and extinguisher inspections
- Read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine layout requirements
- Assist in training and directing the day to day work of a helper
- Maintain appropriate documentation for the work performed
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Knowledge industry standards for fire alarm systems installation
- Experience with a variety of system manufacturers
- Troubleshooting skills including, researching on line, system manuals to resolve problems
- Experience with conduit bending, understanding of blue prints and wiring schematics and layout of system installations
- Exceptional communication skills with customers, other field personnel, office staff and sub-contractors
- Must be flexible in adapting to changes in priorities, work assignments, and other interruptions that may impact pre-established courses of action for completing or progressing with projects and assignments
- Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
- May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold and dampness
- May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels
- May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust
- May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights
- This role routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools.
- While performing duties of the job the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs
- Frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms
- Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus
- May require travel (typically not overnight)
- Prior military experience
- HS diploma or GED equivalent
