We issue air, water, and solid and hazardous waste permits that restrict discharges to environmentally safe levels. Staff members inspect and monitor regulated entities; provide compliance and technical assistance; monitor and assess air, land, and water quality; use enforcement actions as necessary to ensure compliance; and respond to incidents involving spills to soil or waters of the state.Role Overview:The essential functions of the CFO SEM 1 role is as follows:
  • Coordinate inspection activities for the CFO program in the state of Indiana
  • Position will be assigned an IDEM vehicle which requires a valid IN driver's Llcense
  • Have good technical writing and verbal communication skills and proficiency in using Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience in an e-mail system such as Outlook, Microsoft Teams and excel spreadsheets.
  • Deal impartially and honestly with the general public in (sometimes) highly contentious situations with a professional demeanor and technical accuracy in applying state and federal regulations.
  • Capable of working independently to schedule and plan their workload in order to meet program and agency commitment goals and deadlines.
  • Apply organization and balance in between conducting inspections and preparing the necessary reports and maintaining database report entries.
  • Conduct inspections on various livestock farms requiring compliance with the agency bio-security policy.
  • Develop program policy and work processes based regulatory interpretation of both federal and state regulations.

Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at anytimeSalary Statement:The salary for this position traditionally starts at $59,800.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.Essential Duties/Responsibilities:The incumbent interprets laws, regulations and guidelines within an area of assignment, develops and coordinates programs and work plans for the CFO Complaince Section. When necessary, incumbent develops and modifies existing state programs to adapt to changes in federal or state legislation-mandated policy. Acts as the program expert for the CFO Compliance Section and conducts field inspections in assigned geographic area and large dairy operations.Job Requirements:A bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Specialized experience in the CFO Compliance Section's program area. Thorough knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices of the CFO specialty areas and the ability to apply these principles as they relate to the CFO program areas.
