- Demonstrate responsibility for the personal safety of self and others by maintaining a clean, orderly hazard free work environment, and compliance with safety practices and regulations.
- Actively promote Safety in a positive manner, proactively identifies and resolves Safety issues, report any apparent Safety concerns or violations to direct leader and/or CPD leader.
- Volunteer for a Safety Gemba on the shop floor quarterly.
- Execute design, programming, and testing of our systems from start to complete.
- Follow standards on how to execute electrical controls engineering content deliverables for systems on projects.
- Capable of electrical controls design, programming, system testing, and site startups per standards.
- Create electrical designs and new programs for new machines and machine upgrades following industry standards.
- Troubleshoot electrical and software designs in-house and for other BW Integrated Systems and customer sites.
- Work with vendors to assure quality and best value for specified electronic components.
- Determine and execute a plan to achieve desired approval agency certifications.
- Create and maintain bills of material for machine control designs.
- Ensure all documentation is updated to reflect controls changes.
- Manage machine controls section of a machine contract from order entry to machine commissioning, including warranty resolution.
- Assist both internal and external customers with problem solving.
- Provide controls engineering and quoting assistance to applications engineering sales team.
- Continued education in latest technical and engineering developments, technology, techniques and components.
- Manage time to estimate and meet project timelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts performing service-related tasks to support products in the field.
- Leads project execution of the Electrical Controls Engineering milestones required to complete project execution required by the Electrical Controls Engineering Leader and Senior Electrical Controls Engineer.
- Plans, coordinates, communicates Electrical Controls Engineering milestones / timelines to team members and the Electrical Controls Engineering Leader.
- Participate in internal awareness touch meetings, Team Guru updates, risk burn downs and project wrap-up meetings.
- Participates in and assists with the implementation and sustainment of Operational Excellence best practices in alignment with the BW Way, Barry-Wehmiller’s framework to help us think and act in a systematic and disciplined way.
- Ensure work areas are organized and maintained in the office and offer recommendations in the shop.
- Create and utilize standard operating procedures and standard work documentation.
- Conduct all activities in a manner that is always fair, moral, ethical, and legal.
- Consistently demonstrate the characteristics of a team player.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and confidence for the working environment and for learning new tasks and accepting responsibilities. Demonstrates willingness to learn and implement new processes when given appropriate instructions.
- A Bachelor’s degree Electrical Engineering and 2 years related experience, or a 2 year post high school diploma/certificate in electrical design and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- Electrical schematic and hardware design using AutoCad
- Programming skills using PLC’S and HMI’s
- Servo and motion control programming
- VFD programming and setup
- Demonstrate effective verbal communication skills and effective written skills
- Ability to work in a team-based environment
- Travel 20%-50% at times including some international travel
- Analytical and Problem solving skills
- Proficient user of ERP system, Infor XA/MAPICS experience desired but not required.
- Specific product/packaging handling equipment knowledge desired.
- Lean manufacturing and/or operational excellence experience desired.
- Stand, walk, bend, reach or otherwise move about regularly.
- Typically sits, grasps items, and performs keyboarding for operation of a computer.
- Lift, move, or otherwise transfer items up to 50 lbs. frequently, or more occasionally.
- Exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards.
- Noise level in the environment is usually moderate.
