
Network Engineer

- Perform a wide range of network administration duties including installations, debugging, maintenance, upgrades, and general support for Cisco network equipment.
- Evaluate, test, and deploy all software and hardware upgrades to the networking infrastructure.
- Assist in the configuration and deployment of core and peripheral network devices, which will require continuous learning of new devices.
- Proactive monitoring of all network devices, services, and servers using a combination of tools to ensure high availability and SLA’s in a fast-paced environment.
- Collect and review network utilization data for capacity and planning purposes.
- Assist in developing, implementing, testing, and maintaining disaster recovery plans.
- Interface with vendors for procurement & maintenance of all Loretto network infrastructures.
- Manage & troubleshoot network and Internet connectivity throughout the organization.
- Work closely with the fellow Loretto IT Department team members to provide end-user support and issue resolutions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging network tools and technologies.
- Research, evaluate and recommend network technologies to support business requirements.
- Rigorously create and maintain documentation for all processes and procedures.
- Collaborate with and support the work of other staff engaged in support functions
- Attend and actively participate in weekly meetings.
- Coordinate with the rest of the Loretto team to meet the corporate goals and team objectives.
- Be able to provide emergency 24 x 7 on-call support to address network issues.
- Be able to lift network devices to install in racks and deploy battery backup devices that may weigh up to 50 lbs.
- Serve in an On-call position on a rotating basis in the IT department.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Performs a variety of related duties as assigned.
- Degree in Networking, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related work experience (relevant work experience, certifications and education may be considered in lieu of a degree).
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a Network Engineering role, preferably with Cisco network equipment.
- Proven experience working with networking equipment specifically, including maintenance, upgrades and troubleshooting.
- Ability to utilize packet capturing tools such as Wireshark and TCPDUMP to diagnose network issues.
- Working knowledge of Cisco Unified Communications systems and Cisco Wireless networks are a plus.
- Working knowledge of Firewall / VPN (Check Point is a plus) and security concepts.
- CCNA and CCDA are a plus.
- Significant experience working with Linux based OS, Microsoft Windows servers and network monitoring tools.
- Strong knowledge of LAN and WAN networking, including: TCP/IP, VLANs, Ethernet, switching and Spanning Tree, routing and routing protocols (i.e. OSPF), 802.1Q, ACLs, GRE, SIP, DHCP and DNS.
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to research & solve complex issues independently.
- Willingness and ability to learn new skills and apply them as needed.
- Ability to effectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of the organization.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information.

- Pay range: $91,936.00 - $100,256.00/annually based on experience
