Now Hiring: GIS Programmer!Job DescriptionWe are seeking a GIS Developer/Programmer to support the design, development, and automation of GIS solutions for telecommunications infrastructure. This role involves creating constructible fiber network designs, managing spatial data, integrating GIS with enterprise systems, and supporting both rural and commercial telecom projects.Responsibilities
  • Design constructible fiber network plans for rural and commercial areas.
  • Size serving boundaries using GIS address data.
  • Layout feeder routes, distribution routes, and drops to premises.
  • Determine fiber allocations and review field staking sheets.
  • Determine the best construction method for design.
  • Produce constructible design packages using GIS-based software such as ArcMap.
  • Provide CAD support for fiber systems through the creation of permit plan and profile drawings, construction drawings, and conduit designs.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in GIS, particularly ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and mobile data collection tools.
  • 3 years of experience with AutoCAD and Civil GIS Mapping.
  • Strong Python programming skills, including ArcPy and ArcGIS API for Python.
  • Professional experience with GIS in telecom, utility, or civil engineering industries.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • GIS certifications such as Esri Technical Certification or GISCI.
  • Experience with web GIS development, including ArcGIS API for JavaScript and Leaflet.
  • Knowledge of fiber network planning and RF propagation modeling.
  • Experience with CAD tools for telecom or utility design.
  • Adaptability to new tools, methodologies, and project requirements.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Experience with SQL and spatial databases for managing and querying geospatial data.
  • Understanding of telecommunications networks, including fiber optic and wireless infrastructure.
  • Ability to work on projects with short timelines.
  • Strong communication skills to articulate and implement tasks with clarity and priority.
Work EnvironmentJoin a team of 4 engineers and 8 mapping designer drafters. The work environment is business casual with hours from 8 AM to 4:30 PM. Initially, work will be in-office for 4 weeks to gain a strong understanding of project expectations and build relationships with the team. Training will be on-the-job, excluding programming or GIS training. The office is located on the first floor, offering lots of natural light and updated technology with screens. The town provides a quaint atmosphere with diners that create an old-town vibe for meetings at the main office.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
