- Leadership, technical training, and mentorship of engineering teams
- Build and maintain a strong engineering culture rooted in accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Manage resource allocation, performance evaluations, and professional development plans
- Engineering Execution
- Oversee project execution from design through production release, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective, and manufacturable solutions
- Review and approve engineering drawings, BOMs, schematics, and technical documentation
- Drive adherence to engineering standards, regulatory codes (e.g., UL), and customer specifications
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Product Management to support product development, improvement, and customization
- Collaborate closely with Manufacturing and Operations teams to support smooth handoffs and solve production challenges
- Participate in quoting and design reviews for large or complex customer projects
- Process Improvement & Innovation
- Champion design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-cost (DFC) initiatives
- Identify and implement engineering process improvements to reduce lead times and improve quality
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and standards
- Technical Oversight & Risk Management
- Serve as an escalation point for complex technical challenges or design decisions
- Ensure risk assessments and mitigation plans are in place for high-impact projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field)
- 7+ years of engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role
- Strong project management skills and experience in a custom or engineered-to-order manufacturing environment
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing engineering teams
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and engineering documentation systems
- Experience with electrical equipment, such as switchgear, control panels, or power distribution products
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Epicor), PLM systems, and Lean manufacturing principles
- Familiarity with UL, NEC, and other relevant codes and standards
