Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to support a mission-critical Department of Defense (DoD) program. The ASL Interpreter will provide interpretation services and operational support for deaf and hard-of-hearing personnel in a secure environment. This position will be onsite in Quantico, VA!Responsibilities of the ASL Interpreter include:
Provide interpreting services to individuals who are deaf/hard of hearing in an effective and appropriate manner and in the preferred mode established by the individual
Participate in meetings and conversations to transmit spoken English into American Sign Language (ASL) and/or gestures for communication between deaf and hearing individuals
Establish and maintain professional and collaborative relationships with peers, customers, leadership, and other community members
Demonstrate professional judgment and knowledge of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Code of Ethics/Professional Code of Conduct
Maintain a professional appearance and behavior conducive to a professional setting
Work typical 30-minute sessions with flexibility for extended durations during key events
Ensure relevant information is conveyed to relief interpreters prior to ending a session
Qualifications for the ASL Interpreter include:
Active DoD TS/SCI clearance (no exceptions; subject to CI polygraph)
Fluent in Spoken English and American Sign Language
Prior DoD/USMC experience preferred
Experience in the Intelligence Community preferred
