Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center is a non-profit community health center that is dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of our community by providing accessible, high quality care by integrating primary care, dental care, WIC support, mental health counseling, community health education and more.Compensation: $22.05 - $25.00 per hour, depending on experience.TVHC offers compensation ranges that are determined by a thorough market-based analysis and are fully disclosed in accordance with California law. We are committed to providing a competitive compensation package that extends beyond base salary, designed to support the health, wealth, and career development of our employees.Responsibilities:Security & Safety Duties:
- Monitor entrances, exits, waiting areas, parking lots, and surrounding facility grounds to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Conduct routine interior and exterior patrols - including stairwells, restrooms, and high-traffic areas to deter unauthorized activity and identify safety hazards.
- Monitor surveillance systems using a hand-held device (e.g., iPad) and promptly report safety concerns, equipment malfunctions, suspicious activity, or policy violations.
- Conduct regular patrols of the building, parking areas, and camera surveillance systems.
- Ensure a clean and well-maintained campus.
- Respond to emergencies including fire alarms, and facility evacuations.
- Calmly de-escalate incidents and find solutions to problems. If necessary, involve law enforcement when appropriate.
- Enforce TVHC facility policies related to safety, security, and visitor access.
- Support a culture of safety by maintaining visibility, building rapport with staff and patients, and modeling calm, professional behavior in high-stress situations.
- Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner; provide directions and facility information as needed.
- Assist patients with transportation coordination, including arranging Uber or Medi-Cal rides.
- Monitor drop-off/pick-up zones and facilitate safe, orderly flow of patient traffic.
- Provide directions or alternative guidance when parking capacity is reached.
- Identify and support patients with social or clinical care needs by providing resources, referrals and technical assistance as needed.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with HIPAA standards during all interactions.
- High school diploma or GED, or four (4) years of direct experience in lieu of education required.
- Valid and current California Guard Card required.
- CPR/BLS certification required (or must obtain prior to start date).
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in security, public safety, or a similar customer-facing role.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work well with diverse populations.
- Basic computer literacy; familiarity with mobile apps or patient portals (e.g., MyChart) is a plus.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
