If the answers to these questions is “Yes” then we have an opportunity for you with us an Aerospace Manufacturing - Process & Automation Controls Engineer at PPG Aerospace!As an Aerospace Manufacturing – Process & Automation Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automation systems that include PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and actuators to enhance manufacturing efficiency. You will develop and troubleshoot control logic for automated equipment, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential to integrate automation solutions into both existing and new production systems. You will also create and maintain detailed documentation for control systems, including wiring diagrams, PLC programs, and HMI configurations. Staying current with automation technologies and ensuring compliance with aerospace industry standards and safety regulations will be key to your success in this role.This is an on-site role at our Mojave, CA facility and you will report to the Engineering Manager.Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and maintain automation systems including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and actuators to optimize aerospace manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and troubleshoot control logic for automated equipment to ensure efficient and reliable operation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate automation solutions into existing production lines and new equipment installations.
  • Create and maintain documentation for control systems, including wiring diagrams, PLC programs, and HMI configurations.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for automation-related issues to minimize downtime and improve system performance.
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements in all automation projects.
  • Stay current with advancements in automation technologies and recommend upgrades to improve productivity and reduce costs.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Software, Manufacturing, Engineering, or equivalent work experience & certifications is required.
  • Knowledge of PLC’s and HMI’s are required.
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC is a plus.
  • One (1) or more years of experience in a manufacturing / industrial environment is required.
