Malace|HR is seeking a Metallurgist to support the metallurgy lab operations for our client in a technically advanced manufacturing environment. This position requires deep technical expertise in metallurgy or chemical engineering, along with strong leadership and communication skills to guide the lab team. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with experience in material analysis, process auditing, and failure investigation.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain technical oversight of metallurgical and sediment analysis processes in the production environmentDevelop, update, and oversee TIS (Technical Information Sheets) and control documents for productionInstruct production and quality control teams on proper metallurgical and sediment procedures (CQI-9)Audit laboratory and production areas for compliance with CQI-9 standardsSupervise and optimize the induction hardening process for crankshafts, ensuring manufacturing specifications are metConduct and support plant or field failure analysis efforts both on- and off-siteApprove material based on drawing and specification criteriaProvide technical guidance and mentoring to Met Lab Technicians in safe and accurate operation of equipmentEnsure lab evaluations are performed efficiently with minimal disruption to productionUphold all safety standards and maintain a clean, organized lab environmentDemonstrate alignment with core company values and lead by examplePerform other related duties as assignedQualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Chemical EngineeringMinimum 5 years of related experience in metallurgical or materials analysisExperience working with or managing automotive industry vendors preferredKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesIndependent and self-motivated with minimal supervision requiredStrong leadership and interpersonal skills to lead a team effectivelyExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProficient in Microsoft Office and lab information systemsAttention to detail and strong organizational abilitiesSkilled in problem-solving, material behavior, and failure analysisAbility to multitask and work collaboratively in cross-functional environmentsPhysical RequirementsAbility to sit or stand for prolonged periodsMust be able to lift up to 35 lbsCapable of navigating and working within a manufacturing environment that may not be temperature controlled
