  • Performs a variety of maintenance tasks related to the operation and maintenance of physical plant facilities and of public use areas on a completed reservoir.
  • Works as a mechanic in the shop/field repairing and maintaining the following, but not limited to, electrical components, PM and other units of one or more types of vehicles powered by internal combustion engines, gasoline, diesel, and propane.
  • Operates one or more types of light and heavy equipment to push, pull, pile, tow, till, lift, haul, drive, dip, cut, excavate, pump, or load materials such as sand, gravel, base rock, mud, earth, and refuse.
  • Constructs wooden structure forms for concrete; measures, cuts and constructs or makes carpentry repairs to steps, picnic tables, doors, windows, floors, walls, roofs, etc.
  • Services pumps and equipment, takes hour readings, records information in operational log.
  • Perform minor electrical repairs on extension cords, outlets, lights and fixtures and breakers.
  • Make minor plumbing repairs to waterborne toilets, drinking fountains, hydrants, lavatories, etc. which normally can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, replacing, packing and sealing defective parts.
  • Prepares surfaces for painting by sandblasting, steam cleaning, sanding, wire brushing, power washing and the use of cleaning fluids.
  • Selects primer and paint to meet proper application requirements.

  • This position is a drug testing designated position.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's licenses.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers boat operator license within 12 months after initial appointment.

  • Physical Effort: Exerts heavy physical effort in doing such tasks as frequently lifting and moving objects weighing under 45 pounds unassisted, obtains assistance or uses appropriate equipment or safety devices when lifting and moving objects greater than 45 pounds. Physical dexterity is needed to handle tools and work around machinery or equipment.
  • Working Conditions: Work is normally performed outdoors with exposure to variations in weather and temperatures. Work may be performed inside a building. Occasionally works at benches or while material is on supports. May work in cramped quarters and in, over, or near water. May occasionally make repairs in areas where fumes are present. There may be exposure to insect, snake, and spider bites. The incumbent is exposed to injury from power tools and danger from flying splinters, airborne particles, cuts, or scrapes from the use of hand tools or material handling. Is exposed to traffic hazards while driving on improved or unimproved roads.
