- Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on lyophilizers, HVAC systems, freezers, coolers and any assets with a refrigeration component.
- Manage work activities of vendors and skilled trades.
- Support the maintenance organization in the writing of work orders and purchase orders by specifying materials, vendor contacts and costing.
- Active involvement on continuous improvement programs, energy savings measures, safety & compliance tasks.
- Installation, maintenance and repair of equipment must adhere to Abbott Engineering Standards.
- Personally, work with all maintenance mechanics, technicians and supervisors to develop and enlarge technical skill base and understanding of assigned areas.
- Provide technical leadership and investigation for any safety incident and/or activity.
- Complete all assigned training on time.
- Working weekends and holidays may be required.
- Perform other duties/projects as assigned.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Associate degree in related field is preferred but not required.
- HVAC Certificate with EPA Universal 608
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, ideally in a pharmaceutical and/or packaging environment.
- Strong technical skills including electrical, mechanical, hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Must be familiar with GMP and safe work practices. NEC, NFPA 70B, NFPA 70E.
- Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs is desirable.
- Experience working with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) or work order system.
- Experience working with HVAC, compressors, fillers, cappers, labelers, conveyors, printing & inspection systems.
- Possess strong computer and troubleshooting skills as well as solid reading, writing, math & communication skills.
- Working knowledge of computers and computer operating systems.
- Ability to plan and organize to ensure timely completion and follow up on assigned tasks.
- Be proactive and willing to take initiative and responsibility.
- Must be able to communicate, both written and verbal form, in an effective manner.
- Attention to detail and the ability to complete required documentation in a neat and accurate manner.
- Read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Follow diagnostic and repair procedures from instrument equipment manuals.
