
Senior Wastewater/Water Engineer

- Responsible for leading engineering/process design, project coordination, determining and writing engineering specifications, planning work, establishing appropriate design methods, report preparation and coordination, equipment sizing and selection.
- Provides technical oversight of design staff and team members for water and wastewater pipeline (yard piping) and pump station projects.
- Conduct schematic, design development and contract document work sessions at project sites in conjunction with appropriate technical professionals and other disciplines and be responsible for coordinating staffing/workload through the entire project’s development to complete documents on schedule and within budget.
- Ability to manage the production and coordination of multiple projects concurrently.
- Responsible for implementing QA/QC procedures, and for the execution of training for personnel as established by strategic plans and objectives.
- Mentor local project staff that are less experienced to help develop their professional growth.
- Perform other technical and managerial duties as needed.
- Establishes technical criteria on projects related to pump stations and reservoirs and provides technical input/direction to project managers and team members.
- Participates in technical quality assurance reviews.
- Assists management in conducting project review audits involving pump station and reservoir projects.
- Establishes and disseminates, reviews and updates firmwide professional standards, guidelines and procedures, including computer utilization criteria, investigation and design procedures, and technical quality assurance review guidelines for application to project production.
- Coordinates with project leads to identify staffing needs, deficiencies and opportunities for recruitment in technical specialty area. Assists in the identification, screening, recruitment and orientation of qualified candidates to fill key vacancies in the same technical field.
- B.S. (M.S. preferred) in civil, environmental, or mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain it within six (6) months of hire.
- Ideal candidate will have 10 years of progressive technical design experience within the consulting industry.
- Experience and interest in pursuing leadership opportunities within professional associations.
- Experience in giving presentations for clients and professional organizations.
- Affiliation and active participation with organizations such as Water Environment Federation and American Water Works Association.
- Excellent speaking, presenting, and writing skills
- Ability to travel locally and nationally as needed.
- Special skills:
- Strong technical background and experience in pump station and reservoir design.
- Candidates must thrive in a team environment and have proven interpersonal skills, public speaking and persuasive ability.
- Local, regional and/or national recognition as an industry leader with a publication record, engagement in national associations, and conference presentation experience a plus.
