
Field Service Technician

- Work from assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, machine manuals, technical procedures and specifications to assist with or install new machines and upgrade as required; responsible for installations of various sections and complete machines and adjustments as necessary to ensure proper operation.
- Set up and operate machinery to produce customer’s product; instruct operators in set-up and operating procedures; provide technical and practical answers to customer’s questions or problems.
- Perform routine and/or emergency breakdown mechanical/electrical service on company equipment; determine root cause of trouble; prepare report of findings and solutions to problem.
- Assist installation coordinator with pre/post installation meetings and audits at customer facility and assessing manpower needs.
- Report quality issues and take corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
- Act as liaison between customer and company; maintain positive relationships with customers.
- Prepare and submit reports as required.
- Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to less experienced personnel.
- Work in a team of field service team members, contractors and/or customer personnel through the project stages.
- Create and sustain a safety environment that promotes a safety mindset, embraces training and adherence to safety policies and procedures, and encourages awareness and correction of safety hazards.
- Ensure that work areas and equipment are maintained in clean and orderly condition and all safety regulations are observed; report and correct any unsafe work practices or conditions immediately.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- An Associate degree in Electro-Mechanical Technology or a related field is required.
- B.S. degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology is preferred.
- A strong mechanical and/or electrical skill set is required to complete a variety of work in this position.
- Knowledge of basic web handling and industrial experience, with focus in the Paper Products, Packaging, Nonwovens or Flexographic presses is a plus.
- Knowledge of Giddings & Lewis, Rockwell, and Siemens PLC is highly recommended, along with a background in machine process control. PCMC uses Indramat and Rockwell servo control systems, along with advance networking communications, including Ethernet and SEROCS protocols.
- Ability to travel at least 50% of the time.
