This position will also oversee all aspects of managing an area including sales accountability, promotional compliance, ensuring all sales reps are addressed regarding training, development, disciplinary issues; interviewing and hiring prospective sales representatives, managing region profit and loss and developing and maintaining key customer relationships to ensure the overall success of the therapeutic products.This position is a unique Specialty Sales opportunity to join AbbVie's flagship business unit, AbbVie Eye Care with a 75-year heritage within eye care community.   • District Sales Performance - Consistently attain growth and market share goals while managing the area operation within expense guidelines
  • People Development, Team Development and Coaching - Provides leadership and direction for all colleagues. Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, developing and performance management for the assigned district. Engages in coaching and counseling to develop innovative selling and account management skills along a continuum from new hires to advanced senior sales executives. Oversees development and succession planning to maximize results and ensure team development continuity.
  • Field Execution - Leads sales direction across the district. Demonstrates the ability to execute marketing plans. Understands and communicates the sales execution role within the marketing plan. Area expert of product strategy and supporting initiatives. Demonstrates the ability to understand the marketing team's role and provide appropriate feedback to plan implementation.
  • Key Customer Management - Proactively identifies, develops and manages the EC relationship with established and emerging physicians, practices and/or accounts within an assigned district. Implements account management plans and allocates resources with key accounts yielding growth, local, regional, and national influence. Effectively optimizes resources with accounts. Established as the key point of contact to manage customer relationship issues and/or opportunities. Understand the local, regional, and national marketplace.
QualificationsQualificationsEducation
  • Bachelor's degree or higher required
Requirements
  • 2+ years pharmaceutical or healthcare industry sales management experience with a proven track record of successful sales performance
  • Ability to develop key strategies and execute them
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and business planning skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to travel about 40% of the time
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience working with finances and budgets
  • A high degree of flexibility in adapting to a rapidly changing environment
  • Excellent presentation skills to engage and meet the needs of various audiences
  • Ophthalmology or Optometric sales background preferred
  • Customer knowledge with eye care specialists in local area preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills to effectively work with internal partners and a diverse and evolving customer base
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to communicate with many diverse customer audiences, therapeutic decision makers, and other influencers externally and internally
  • Strong organizational, analytical and business planning skills
  • Ability to work in a sales driven environment and exceed goals
  • Ability to travel adequately to cover territory, as well as overnight attendance at training meetings
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds
