
Sr Manager - Regulatory & Plant Accounting

- Act as the Accounting Witness for Base Rate Cases, both Electric and Gas, for UGI Utilities.
- Prepare testimony and rebuttal related to accounting policies and procedures.
- Plan and direct the department's efforts to achieve an optimal result from the rate case process.
- Manage the filing requests and interrogatories to ensure they are accurately prepared and timely filed.
- Direct process improvements for Base Rate Case filings to provide overall efficiencies for the accounting department.
- Direct the Accounting Regulatory Department for both UGI Utilities and UGI Energy Services.
- Lead the regulatory filings including, but not limited to, FERC Form 1 (UGI Utilities), annual FERC Form 2 (UGI Energy Services), annual PUC (UGI Utilities), quarterly FERC and PUC reports, etc.
- Own the regulatory basis financial statements in SAP. Direct the regulatory team, including IT technical help, on FERC mappings, FERC financial statement analytical reviews and education of the FERC Uniform System of Accounts.
- Review filings prepared by other departments (including QROR, DSIC filings, etc.), with particular emphasis on the portions prepared by Regulatory Accounting and/or Plant Accounting.
- Lead meetings with Legal, Rates and other groups (as necessary) to understand developments in these areas which impact the recording and reporting of regulatory matters.
- Manage the monthly close activities, reporting and controls for Accounting's Regulatory Department to ensure they are completed timely and accurately.
- Lead efforts to implement process improvements to the regulatory process.
- Direct the Plant Accounting Department's processes including financial statement recording and reporting as well as SOX controls.
- Review variance explanations, financial statements and related presentations for accuracy and appropriateness of plant and regulatory-related items.
- Lead meetings with Legal, Rates, Capital Planning, Operations and other groups (as necessary) to understand developments in these areas which impact the recording and reporting of plant financial information.
- Oversee completion of the relevant SOX controls.
- Lead efforts to implement process improvements to the regulatory process.
- 10+ years of accounting experience, with understanding of GAAP and SOX compliance. Preference for utility experience and understanding of utility ratemaking.
- Self-motivated, professional, and capable of managing workload and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced corporate environment.
- Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize and multi-task in order to meet deadlines.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to comfortably communicate with and build relationships with Executives.
- Demonstrated experience in proactively leading, managing, motivating and coaching a team of accounting professionals.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field. MBA preferred.
- Minimum 10 years' experience.
- CPA Preferred.
