Apply today!General OverviewThe incumbent develops, implements, and executes policies, programs, and procedures to mitigate risk and advance the Company's Strategic Safety Plan while driving consistency across the Downingtown site. Application of best practices to build and sustain a safety culture focused on delivering world-class results with zero incidents/losses is a key deliverable. The incumbent will leverage the Company's high-performing, team-based environment to build a deep bench of subject matter experts at each plant to deliver safety results. Additional responsibilities include ensuring full compliance with all regulatory standards governing occupational health and safety and working collaboratively with other departments and functions across the network to reduce injuries and systemic risk.Essential Job Duties
  • The Manager, Environmental Health & Safety is responsible for managing the Environmental, Health, and Safety programs related to OSHA, EPA, and other state/local regulatory agencies for the entire plant location.
  • Provides managers with plant safety reports and statistics and provides leadership and development regarding environmental health and safety matters.
  • Directly and/or Indirectly Manages the staff assigned to the Environmental Health and Safety department, to include scheduling, performance management, daily operations, etc.
  • Maintains OSHA records and develops corrective action plans to prevent reoccurring problems.
  • Oversees regulatory compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other state/local regulatory departments to achieve company EHS objectives.
Principal Responsibilities
  • Establishes and or develops site operation specific Health and Safety programs as needed and drives implementation. Partners with other support functions (i.e., Quality, Sanitation, Maintenance) to ensure objectives that overlap with EHS are mutually considered.
  • Provides guidance and information to Supervision and Management regarding regulatory compliance and hazard prevention as it relates to Employee Health and Safety.
  • Performs Operational Hazard assessments including evaluation of appropriate Engineering controls and or Protective equipment. Identifies the hazards and incidents of non-compliance and recommends corrective action.
  • Trains personnel including all mandatory OSHA compliance training, 1st Aid Responders, as well as necessary Operational Hazard specific training.
  • Leads injury management and response by supporting all Workers’ Compensation claims management. Conducts claims investigations and evaluates claims to identify significant hazards, loss trends; identifies and recommends preventative measures and corrective actions.
  • Champions efforts to foster a safety culture and employee engagement consistent with Campbell’s Corporate Safety Strategy. Facilitates site safety committees/teams.
  • Manages local S&H staff, participates on site leadership team and implements sitewide integrated business plan for safety and health.
Job Complexity / Scope
  • This position manages EHS programs for the Downingtown manufacturing site (a 24/7 operation). This position directly supervises safety Technician. Work is performed independently with minimal supervision; maintains budgetary responsibility for the Plant Risk & Safety Budget to deliver plan.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3+ years in a safety related manufacturing environment required.
  • Previous experience and knowledge working with Federal, State and local EHS regulations
  • Certifications / Licenses / Registrations: ASP or CSP preferred but not required
  • Other: manufacturing experience preferred but not required
  • Extensive computer knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to use various types of monitors and instruments for environmental testing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to write reports with grammatical correctness, speak with poise, voice control and confidence and communicate and train others on safety rules.
Compensation and Benefits:The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between $72,900-$117,300Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
