
Construction Manager - Complex Bridge Structures

- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
- Active registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) and ability to obtain by endorsement in applicable jurisdictions within 3 months.
- Advanced coursework or degree in structural engineering preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of construction engineering experience, with at least:
- 5 years in a Resident Engineer or senior CEI role on DOT projects.
- 3 years on cable-stayed or other major long-span bridge projects, with direct involvement in erection sequencing, stay cable installation, and structural concrete works.
- Knowledge of DOT Standard Specifications, Construction Manual, and Materials & Tests Division protocols.
- Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD design and construction requirements for cable-supported bridges.
- Deep foundation construction
- Tower construction
- Stay cable tensioning and vibration mitigation systems.
- Segmental or cantilevered deck erection.
- Post-tensioning and grouting operations.
- Ability to lead daily inspection operations and ensure quality compliance per Quality Assurance Program.
- Review and manage contractor submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), work plans, and method statements.
- Coordinate with Materials & Tests for off-site fabrication inspections, including stay cables and precast segments.
- Act as primary field representative for cable-stayed bridge.
- Manage CEI inspection staff, specialty subconsultants, and third-party testing entities.
- Attend weekly construction progress meetings and issue field directives as necessary.
- Maintain daily diaries, photo logs, and inspection reports using TDOT-approved software systems.
- OSHA 30-hour construction safety certification required.
- Working knowledge of field applications such as AASHTOWare Project, SiteManager, or comparable CEI documentation systems.
- Capable of working extended hours and in a marine or elevated work environment.
