
Solution Architect

- Serves as the primary technical resource for pre-sales activities across all Federal market sectors (Homeland, Federal Civilian, Health, and DoD)
- Partners with sales teams to understand client technical requirements and develop compelling solution architectures
- Conducts technical discovery sessions with prospective clients to assess current state, identify challenges, and envision future state solutions
- Develops technical content for proposals, RFI responses, market research, and other business development materials
- Creates solution architectures and technical approaches that demonstrate Steampunk's capabilities in DevSecOps, Cloud, Software Development, Cybersecurity, Data, AI/ML, and Digital Platforms
- Delivers technical presentations and demonstrations to client stakeholders at various levels
- Collaborates with internal technical teams to ensure proposed solutions are feasible and aligned with delivery capabilities
- Maintains current knowledge of Federal technology trends, requirements, and emerging opportunities
- Supports competitive positioning by understanding market landscape and differentiating Steampunk's technical approach
- Participates in client meetings, industry events, and networking opportunities to build relationships and identify new business opportunities
- Documents technical requirements, solution designs, and lessons learned to inform future engagements
- Works closely with Operations Directors and Program Managers to transition successful proposals to delivery teams
- Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance
- BS Degree in an IT field OR BS in a non-IT field and 5 years related IT experience
- 5-10 years of technology experience with demonstrated expertise in 2-3 of the following areas, with working knowledge across the remaining areas:
- DevSecOps practices and tooling
- Cloud Architecture, Engineering, and Operations (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Software Development and modern development practices
- Cybersecurity frameworks and implementation
- Data Architecture, Engineering, and Operations
- Data Science, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence
- Digital Platforms and low-code/no-code solutions (e.g., Salesforce)
- Experience in pre-sales, technical sales, solution consulting, or technical account management roles
- Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills
- Ability to translate technical concepts for both technical and executive audiences
- Experience working with Federal clients or understanding of Federal technology requirements preferred
- Candidates must be local to Washington, DC and able to support in-person customer engagements.
- Excellent written communication skills for proposal and technical documentation development
- Hands-on technical experience in one or more core competency areas
- Technology certifications in relevant areas (AWS, Azure, GCP, Salesforce, etc.)
- Previous experience with Federal contracting or government technology initiatives
- Experience with Human-Centered Design methodologies
- Background in technical writing for proposals, RFIs, or market research
- History of supporting successful business development activities
