Compensation: $41,667 (Grant Funded)This position will remain open until filled with the first review of applications occurring on Monday, March 4, 2024.Compensation Type: ExemptEmployment Type: RegularGrade: E01Position Summary This position provides transfer assistance and family outreach support to students transferring to a 4-year college or university.MAJOR DUTIES
  • Plans and implements comprehensive upward transfer support services for students.
  • Develops partnerships and maintains relationships with Fort Lewis College and other four-year institutions and develops pathways and transfer opportunities for San Juan College AA and AS students.
  • Coordinates student and family transfer events including Fort Lewis College Visits.
  • Collaborates effectively with the Advising and Transfer Center.
  • Oversees communications related to transfer support, including informing students about general transfer guidelines and timelines, Transfer Fairs and visits from Fort Lewis College and other transfer partners.
  • Collaborates with San Juan College offices and departments to publicize campus events and other activities designed for families.
  • Assists the Transfer Coordinator to develop branded communication, and maintain the transfer website, ensures updated articulation and transfer pathways are available online, and information about upcoming transfer visits and events are published on the website and social media platforms.
  • Monitors and reports on transfer progress and intent of AA and AS students.
  • Performs related duties.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLSThe Transfer Coordinator assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.GUIDELINESGuidelines include the college employee handbook, grant requirements, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act regulations and college and program policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application.COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
  • The work consists of varied specialized advising duties and event coordination duties. Frequent interruptions contribute and the unique needs of each student add to the complexity of the position.
  • The purpose of this position will be to function within Advising and Transfer Center to serve AA and AS students with the process of transferring to a four-year institution.

  • Contacts are typically with co-workers, other college personnel, faculty, staff, students, families, representatives of other colleges or universities, and members of the general public.
  • Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, to resolve problems, or to provide services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects.
  • The work is typically performed in an office.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITYNone.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field is required.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/ internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of New Mexico for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
