- Design manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling.
- Design the arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure the most efficient and productive layout.
- Design sequence of operations and specify procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
- Adapt machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
- Incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
- Inspect performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and initiate corrective action for problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
- Develop manufacturing processes applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques.
- Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
- Ensure processes and procedures comply with regulations.
- Autonomy: Seasoned individual contributor working independently under limited supervision to determine and develop approach to solutions. Coaches and reviews the work of lower-level specialists and may manage projects/processes.
- Organizational Impact: Responsible for entire projects or processes within the job area. Contributes to the completion of work group objectives through building relationships and consensus to reach agreements on assignments.
- Innovation and Complexity: Faces difficult problems and issues requiring understanding of multiple issues, job areas, or specialties. Makes improvements to processes, systems, or products to enhance performance of the job area. Provides in-depth analysis and often recommends process improvements.
