Discover a career in banking at Fifth Third Bank.GENERAL FUNCTION:The Director of Financial Operations Management – Technology is a senior leader responsible for driving financial transparency, operational efficiency, and strategic alignment across the Technology organization. This role oversees budgeting, forecasting, vendor financials, and workforce planning for IT lines of business, ensuring that financial operations support the delivery of technology solutions and enterprise objectives.This position sits within the Technology organization and partners closely with Finance, HR, Procurement, and Product teams to manage the financial health of technology portfolios. The Director will lead a team of financial analysts, providing insights and governance across a complex, matrixed environment.Responsible and accountable for the identification of risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns. They personally follow policies and procedures as defined and are accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues. The incumbent ensures that their actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, the role achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all typesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and coach their current employees to meet the needs of the organization while balancing personal development of the employee.
- Will actively participate in the hiring of experienced and college graduate level employees.
- Solicit feedback from key team members to understand performance of his/her team members and provide that feedback to the employee in a timely manner.
- Work with other leaders within the organization to identify and problem solve issues that are preventing employees from performing effectively.
- Identify organizational needs/gaps and propose solutions to resolve.
- Be a leader of their particular craft to provide insight on best practices and provide insight on future direction of the craft for the organization.
- Apply and deploy multiple approaches to remove organizational impediments (e.g. cultural barriers, logistic challenges, mindset shifts, etc.)
- Facilitates communication, cooperation, and collaboration across the organization, including continuous feedback loops.
- Works to improve the effectiveness of all roles of the organization, fostering self-organization, learning and growth.
- Builds a trusting and safe environment where issues are resolved in a safe environment.
- Lead financial planning and analysis for Technology, including annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and multi-year investment planning. Ensure alignment with enterprise funding models and strategic priorities.
- Oversee tracking and reporting of FTEs, contractors, and vendor resources. Manage rate structures, contract terms, and funding sources in partnership with HR and Procurement.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and executive-level reporting to monitor financial performance, resource utilization, and cost optimization across technology portfolios.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to technology leaders, product owners, and delivery managers. Translate financial insights into actionable recommendations that drive operational and strategic outcomes.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial operations. Ensure compliance with internal controls, risk policies, and audit requirements.
- Typically, will have at least 6-10 years of combined people leadership and hands-on experience in their particular craft.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Technology, or related field; MBA preferred.
- Strong financial planning experience required. Previous experience in multiple Fifth Third LOBs, Corporate finance or related experience preferred.
- Proficient in basic spreadsheet applications such as Excel, Microsoft Word, etc. Demonstrate ability to learn and understand various computer systems.
