This includes rigorous data mining, cleaning, and aggregation to prepare data for in-depth analysis. Implementing data models and conducting preliminary analyses are fundamental tasks aimed at developing robust databases that support organizational decisions.The Data Analyst will interpret results using a variety of programming, statistical, and analytical tools, drawing from both structured and unstructured data sources to ensure clarity and relevance in analysis outcomes. Collaboration is key; working closely with different teams, the analyst will understand each projects unique needs and objectives, aligning efforts to meet the core purpose of data analysis initiatives. This role also entails designing and implementing solutions that leverage data insights to enhance decision-making and strategic planning processes, thereby adding value to the organization.Further responsibilities include supporting business analytics by providing insights that impact evaluations of business performance and contribute to operational improvements and future planning. The use of statistical methods, modeling, and analytical frameworks is crucial in developing tools like dashboards, infographics, and reports, to facilitate informed decision-making across the company. The analyst will also engage in data mining, analyzing both internal and external sources, and utilizing key performance indicators (KPIs), industry insights, and competitor intelligence to inform comprehensive analyses.Understanding the business at a deep level is essential, as is supporting HR functions through the development and administration of the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), tailoring it to meet evolving business needs and supporting HR initiatives. Ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across the board is paramount, as is the ability to work collaboratively while managing complex tasks independently. This role requires a blend of technical skill, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of the business context, making it an exciting opportunity for a data enthusiast looking to make a significant impact.Required Education
  • Bachelor's in Math, Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or a related field is required, offering a foundation in analytical and technical skills for data analysis.
Required Experience
  • At least three years of relevant experience in data analysis or a related field.
  • Experience in working with computer systems is beneficial, especially if familiar with HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) like PeopleSoft, ADP Vantage, or similar systems.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with enterprise reporting tools, is important. These skills support the analysis and presentation of data in a clear and effective manner.
  • Structured Query Language Skills: SQL writing skills are advantageous, particularly if used within environments like PeopleSoft Query Manager.
  • The ability to construct and execute simple queries will be considered a plus.
  • Programming Knowledge: An understanding of programming languages or technologies such as HTML5 may be beneficial to support an understanding of data analysis and reporting tools.
  • IT Systems Familiarity: A general knowledge of IT systems, including Google Apps, and the ability to troubleshoot PeopleSoft issues, before escalating to support teams.
  • System Experience: Experience with PeopleSoft HRIS, ADP Vantage, or similar systems to support HR data management and analysis.
Skills
  • Communication Skills: Capable of communicating effectively both verbally and in writing, with a good grasp of the English language and fundamental organizational skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Exhibits attention to detail and the ability to follow through on tasks. Has a foundational understanding of relational databases.
  • Report Development Tools: Familiar with basic report development tools such as SQL, SQL Developer, or similar tools. Able to understand technical documentation related to system architecture. Visualization reporting experience will be considered a plus.
  • Process Familiarity: Has a basic understanding of standardized incident, change, and release management processes.
  • Incident Management: Knows how to use incident management systems and can accurately capture information necessary to reproduce error conditions for problem resolution.
  • Critical Thinking: Demonstrates the ability to think critically, capable of analyzing and solving basic to moderate problems. Can troubleshoot technical issues with guidance.
  • Teamwork: Able to work effectively within a team showing flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Work Relationships: Maintains positive work relationships with colleagues, students, faculty, University officials, and the general public.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in the use of Google Apps, PeopleSoft, and the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. This proficiency supports effective data analysis and presentation.

Compensation
  • Grade 9: $23.58 to $27.12 is the hourly compensation for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
