Primary PurposePRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITIONThe Communications Specialist is responsible for planning and executing external communications events and projects for ComEd, reporting to the Manager of Executive Events and Visibility. This person serves as a point of contact, ensuring full integration with corporate and business unit/operating company communications organizations and an effective working relationship with local press and local community partners.
Primary DutiesPRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Ensure effective communication of corporate goals and initiatives to employees. (10%)
- Support and participate in communications programs and initiatives. (20%)
- Produce accurate, compelling, and editorially proficient written communications. (15%)
- Oversee a variety of communication tasks to support leadership, including talking points, short presentations, and online messages. (5%)
- Develop strong working relationship with local press. (15%)
- Assist in resource-sharing duties with other Communications departments. (10%)
- Work with manager to ensure effectiveness of community relations activities and relationships with external constituencies, including the media, civic and public interest groups. (25%)
Minimum QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 4-year relevant degree and a minimum of 2 to 4 years of experience in internal or external communications
- Proven communications skills � both written and interpersonal;
- Excellent writing skills and self motivation
- In lieu of degree, 3-6 years of relevant experience
- Energy business/industry knowledge.
- Understanding of press dynamics and organizational communications Willingness to learn and undertake new projects.
- Spanish fluency a plus
- Annual salary will vary based on a candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $60,000.00/Yr. - $82,500.00/Yr.
