Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.Position Title: Support CrewCorps/Department: Salvation Army, King’s Lake CampReports To: Youth Program Specialist/Protect The Mission CoordinatorFLSA Status: Temporary, Full-time; Non-ExemptDates of Employment: June 18, 2024 – August 5, 2024Scope of Position: Provides assistance in maintaining the general cleanliness of camp, including buildings and grounds. Assists with camp programs, campers and activities. Assists the Summer Cook with meal preparation, serving meals, and clean-up. Responsible for snack time set up, serving snacks, and clean-up.Minimum Qualifications: * Must pass all background checks required by The Salvation Army.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age, preferred.
  • Prior work experience in camp setting, preferred.
  • Current State of Alaska Food Workers Card required or ability to obtain before the start of camp.

  • Room and Board is provided as Support Crew must be able to stay at camp while camp is in session.
Essential Functions: * Clean and maintain camp buildings, including cleaning and stocking bathhouses
  • Kitchen duties such as washing dishes, mopping floors, cleaning bathrooms, moving and setting up tables for meal service.
  • Assist the Summer Cook with meal preparation, serving meals, and clean-up.
  • Set up for snack time, serve provided snacks, and clean-up after snack time.
  • Empty trash containers daily or more often if
  • Sweep porches and walkways at least once a
  • Assist with Cabin Activities and Free Time.
  • Attend and participate in evening programs and spiritual
  • Assist Camp Counselors with campers as
  • Assist Maintenance Lead with projects as duties
  • Foster and nurture Christian faith and discipleship in visible, fruitful ways to campers.
  • Actively participate in the spiritual formation of campers and staff.
  • Ensure campers respect personal property, camp equipment and facilities.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all staff, volunteers, and campers.
  • Ensure campers adhere to camp and Salvation Army policies and procedures.
  • Ensure and provide supervision and physical/emotional safety for campers and staff.
  • Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and living quarters.
  • Assists in clean-up of the camp at the end of sessions/summer.
  • Follow the King’s Lake Camp Covenant.
  • Assists with all other duties as assigned.
Protect the Mission: Must complete the online course for this area and pass the Background Checks required by The Salvation Army for employment.Work Environment: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in a variety of cool to warm weather conditions. Noise level is generally low, but punctuated with equipment operating noise. May require being out in wet weather for extended periods of time. Some work may be done in the woods.Physical Demands: * Ability to speak, sit, walk, stand, bend, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent basis; to grasp, reach, handle, finger, push or pull objects.
  • Ability to see and hear at normal ranges with corrective devices, if necessary.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs., or more with assistance.
