POSITION GOALTo perform skilled work in all types of gas and electric welding including fabrication and repairs to existing equipment in a responsible and accurate manner.ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIESMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program.
Five (5) years of recent professionally paid work experience as a welder.
Must have knowledge of prints and drawings and have the ability to fabricate items from such drawings.
Ability to do various types of welding, such as: electric, gas, heliarc, PAC (Plasma Arch Cutting) using PCU (Plasma Cutting Unit), MIG (Metal Inert Gas) and TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas).
Ability to order material and maintain records with emphasis on safety and cost of each project.
Must have thorough knowledge of all types of metal and proper methods of welding each metal.
Must have considerable knowledge of all equipment in the welding shop.
Must have knowledge of sheet metal fabrication including duct work and specialty items.
Physical ability to lift and carry heavy materials.
Ability to operate portable welding equipment away from the shop.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to work well with others.
Must provide own hand tools.
Must have ability to assume responsibility and effect repairs without assistance.
Must have a valid Florida Driver's License.
Computer skills as required for the position.
This position will include pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
