- Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or related discipline (or the equivalent experience in Human Resources, Leave Administration or Compliance).
- Professional certification a plus (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM)).
- Four (4) years of experience in Human Resources, Benefits or Absence Management is required. Previous experience in a health care setting is preferred.
- Excellent analytical skills, written and oral communication skills, problem solving skills, interpretation skills, interpersonal skills, planning and organization skills and reasoning ability.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point). Lawson experience a plus.
- Thorough understanding of FMLA, ADAAA, COBRA, HIPAA laws.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of healthcare workers from varying cultural, ethnic, racial and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Self-directed with ability to work autonomously on several projects concurrently.
- Ensures all leave processes are administered efficiently and in full compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Provides direction and operational oversight for the program. Conducts regular audits of leave records and processes to ensure accuracy, identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
- Oversee the end-to-end leave of absence process, including intake, eligibility assessment, documentation and return to work coordination.
- Collaborates with organizational leaders to promote understanding and consistent application of leave policies and procedures. Partners with HR business partners provide guidance, training and resources that support informed decision making and compliance.
- Ensure the leave of absence program is administered in accordance with established policies and procedures. Makes recommendations to policies based on changes in laws or suggested program improvements and ensures leave policies are maintained as needed.
- Creates documentation for new processes and accurately updates existing documentation based on enhancements made to existing processes. Creates and monitors processes and supports continuous improvement efforts.
- Coordinates administration of the PTO donation program. Ensures compliance with necessary regulatory bodies, communicates to colleagues about approval and denials.
- Works closely with leadership and communications to develop ongoing communication efforts about leave of absence, paid time off, and benefits.
- Assists in the administration of the Workers Compensation Program. Develops, reengineers and administers procedures in alignment with system capabilities and organization policies for compliance and management of the program. Ensures adherence to OSHA standards and annual reporting.
- Stays current with new developments in the field of FMLA, ADAAA, HIPAA and best practices.
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends and regulatory requirements in field of expertise and encourages adoption of best practices by organization.
