This role will be great for someone that has a passion for pharmacy experience in the acute care setting and exemplifies outstanding customer service for our patients we serve.The Pharmacy Intern role will be Part Time/Casual working week day evening shifts and weekends on both days/evening shifts, working at the Nebraska Medicine main campus and Bellevue Medical Center campus. Shifts are four hours on weekdays and eight hours on weekends. To be considered for this role, a currently enrolled P1 OR enrolled starting Fall 2024 in a ACPE-Accredited Doctor of Pharmacy degree program and either a licensed Nebraska Pharmacy Intern OR Registered as a Pharmacy Technician.The Pharmacy Intern will gain experience in different areas within the Inpatient Pharmacy beginning as a P1 in the Dispensing areas. Receive, sort, compound, process, and distribute a variety of medication orders under the supervision of a pharmacist. Assist in the maintenance of drug inventory and records of drug distribution. Perform duties relevant to pharmacy operations, support following established policies and procedures. Perform accurate and reliable completion of designated responsibilities which affects the overall accuracy, reliability and acceptability of the department services. Provide excellent customer service and patient care in accordance with assigned duties. Must be supervised at all times while performing the essential functions of a pharmacist intern, which may include all aspects of pharmacy practice, unless otherwise restricted.Required Qualifications:Currently enrolled in an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited Doctor of Pharmacy program required.Licensed Nebraska pharmacy intern or registered as a pharmacy technician with the State of Nebraska Board of Pharmacy required.Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of the systematic and efficient integration of the current technologies into the pharmacy and nursing practice to improve the care of the patient preferred.Prioritize and handle multiple tasks preferred.The ability to make independent decisions regarding appropriate stock levels, drugs and supplies is a challenge preferred.Good mathematical skills are necessary to properly carry out complex division and multiplication problems using a hand-held calculator preferred.Maintain basic knowledge related to meeting age specific needs of the patient population served within the scope of this job description preferred.Experience with typical office equipment (e.g., computers, dispensing cabinets (i.e. Omnicell), calculators, phones, pages, fax machines, hand held scanners, typewriters) preferred.Experience with various computerized and mechanical devices necessary for product preparation and dispensing (e.g., scales, micromix, strip packer, web site resources, general compounding, laminar air flow hoods, biological safety cabinets, etc.).Nebraska Medicine is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
