The Public Health Educator strives to: 1) provide a variety of information to the general public, 2) get the public to adopt good health practices, 3) increase the public understanding of various diseases, problems, etc., and 4) assist in planning and providing inservice training to professionals so that up-to-date services may be provided to the general public.The Public Health Educator IV plans, develops, organizes and conducts informational and educational programs concerning various aspects of public health; and performs other duties as required.The Public Health Educator V plans, develops, organizes and conducts informational and educational programs concerning various aspects of public health; participates in overall program development and evaluation; assists in the recruitment, training and supervision of lower level Public Health Educators and others; and performs other duties as required.To view the Class Specification in its entirety, please .Minimum Qualification RequirementsApplicants will be placed on the eligible list for ALL levels for which they are qualified.To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements: Basic Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university.Excess work experience as described under the Specialized Experience, below, or any other responsible administrative, professional or analytical work experience that provided knowledge, skills and abilities comparable to those acquired in four (4) years of successful study while completing a college or university curriculum leading to a baccalaureate degree may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. To be acceptable, the experience must have been of such scope, level and quality as to assure the possession of comparable knowledge, skills and abilities.Specialized Experience: Three (3) years for level IV and for level V, four (4) years of progressively responsible professional work experience in community health education which involved educating the public in the prevention of disease and other unhealthy conditions or working as a consultant to other professionally trained individuals such as physicians, nurses, social workers and teachers.Substitutions Allowed: * A master's degree in public health from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two (2) years of the Specialized Experience.
  • A doctoral degree in public health or a closely related field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for three (3) years of the required experience.
