We celebrate our wins, learn from our misses, laugh often and invest in each team member's potential so that together, we thrive.Job Title Description: Child Nutrition Program DriverClassification: Non-ExemptReports To: Director of TransportationSummary/ObjectiveNorthern Illinois Food Bank is seeking a Child Nutrition Delivery Driver to deliver after school snacks and/or suppers and backpacks to youth program sites located throughout our northwest region in a Northern Illinois Food Bank van or straight truck, and to report site activity.Essential Functions
  • Load delivery into the Food Bank’s vehicle by site and by route, verifying that the assigned truck is at proper temperatures.
  • Ensure that each route has accurate delivery and invoices prior to departure.
  • Ensure that the warehouse and docking area are free of debris.
  • Deliver to youth sites.
  • Contact site staff when running late or early.
  • Professionally communicate with all site personnel upon delivery.
  • Contact the Child Nutrition Program Manager (CNP) should any programmatic issues arise.
  • Keep the vehicle filled with fuel and comply with all DOT requirements and report maintenance needs to the Director of Transportation.
  • Empty the vehicle of milk crates, pallets, boxes, shrink wrap and/or coolers.
  • Maintain excellent handling and filing of all site invoices.
  • Report site activity to the CNP Manager.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the CNP Manager, Transportation Manager, or Center Manager.
  • Assist with other transportation functions such as Food Recovery, Agency Deliveries etc.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience
  • Must have a clean driving record. (No CDL required)
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must have the ability to maintain accurate counts of inventory, records, and pay attention to details.
  • Must be flexible, responsible, and able to work independently, following a strict schedule.
  • Must have proven ability to relate well with others.
Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position has no supervisory responsibility.Work EnvironmentThis job operates both in and out of doors and sometimes is performed under adverse weather conditions. The work involves frequent driving.Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to remain in a stationary position one to two hours at a time while driving. Employee will be required to frequently move 50 to 75 pounds. Employee must be able to ascend/descend in and out of a semi-tractor trailer, operate a hand jack and be able to push and pull 200-2000 lbs. using a hand jack.Position Type and Expected Hours of WorkThe position is part-time from May 20 – August 9. This position will work Monday through Friday (25-29 hours per week).Remote WorkBased on the Remote Work Policy and the remote work evaluation, this position is NOT eligible for remote work.Position Location and TravelThis position is based out of our Geneva Location. Use of personal vehicle for travel is not required.
