- Lead the development of detailed network designs for hardware and software that align with Department of Defense (DoD) standards.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to identify and source hardware and software that meet project specifications.
- Oversee the installation and configuration of equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and servers.
- Conduct thorough testing of network systems to ensure functionality, performance, and security compliance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during installation and testing phases.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, installations, and changes.
- Develop and update network diagrams and other relevant technical documents.
- Work closely with engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Maintain accurate inventory of COMSEC material, including keying equipment and cryptographic keys, ensuring compliance with security protocols.
- Lead the installation, operation, and maintenance of COMSEC equipment and software, ensuring they meet security standards.
- Provide technical support and guidance to team members and end-users.
- Stay updated on DoD policies and best practices related to network security and design.
- Implement security measures to protect network infrastructure and data.
- US Citizen with at least a Top Secret Clearance is required. With the ability to obtain a SCI prior to your start date.
- Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience or a Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience. Additional experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Strong knowledge of protocols, security standards, and design principles for OSI Layers 1-4.
- Strong experience with installation and configuration of physical networking equipment and Local Area Networks (LANs).
- Strong experience with the design and deployment of Wide Area Networks (WANs) using Virtual Private Networking (VPN) technologies.
- Experience with cloud networking technologies, especially with Microsoft Azure (vNETs, VPN Gateway, Virtual WAN, Express Routes, Azure Firewall, etc).
- Experience configuring and managing COMSEC devices.
- Experience in interpreting and contextualizing network management and troubleshooting tools and technologies, such as ICMP, SNMPv3, and Syslog.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, or other specialization certifications to meet DoD 8140 requirements (e.g. JNCIA, PCNSA, AZ-700, CISSP, etc).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience working on DoD networks, especially on classified and operational networks.
- Experience with the operation and employment of cryptographic devices to facilitate secure networking across a Virtual Private Network (VPN).
- Experience configuring virtual private networks (VPNs) using one or more of the following technologies: Juniper Secure Connect, Azure VPN Gateway, MPLS, IPsec VPN, or other site-to-site VPN technologies.
- Experience remotely managing networks through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC).
- Currently hold NSA COMSEC Manager Course qualification.
- Experience with network performance monitoring and optimization.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity practices and risk management, especially at OSI layers 1-3.
- Previous experience in a leadership or mentoring role within a technical team.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies and trends in network infrastructure.
