In this role, you will be responsible for supporting product maintenance, technology design and development projects that align with growth and cost reduction initiatives. This position will work with cross functional teams and is responsible for the supporting the maintenance, design and development of Large AC motors (>500hp). Based in the US, this position will help develop innovative solutions in Large AC motors.This position reports toEngineering Manager Large AC MotorsYour responsibilities
  • Provide Lifecycle technical support for current and new Above NEMA (A NEMA) product offerings
  • Work with Local Sales Unit (LSU) and Modification Center with Lifecycle maintains of A NEMA products
  • Work with senior and mid level R&D (Research and Development) engineers to develop new products aligned with regional markets
  • Collect, review and analyze a variety of engineering data, documents, test and reports
  • Utilize drawing tools to create design and concept drawings (AutoCAD, Solid Works, Creo, etc.)
  • Interpret regulatory standards and ensure designs meet standards
  • Create, review and maintain documentation for product launch
  • Write papers, participate in technical meetings, seminars and conferences
Your background
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 2 plus years of experience in the design and development of rotating machinery or application of electric motors
  • *A master’s degree in required field = Credit given for 2 years of work experience
  • *A PhD/Doctorate in required field = Credit given for 3 years of work experience
  • 2 plus years of experience in either product application or development of Large AC motors
  • Knowledge in NEMA, IEC, CSA and IEEE standards
  • Proficient in Finite Element Modeling software (ANSYS, SW COSMOS, etc.)
  • Experience in Lean Product Development
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Proficient with SAP and Microsoft Office suite
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
