General Summary: The purpose of this position is to provide engineering services to support mill control systems and control projects.Prerequisites:Education: Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related Science/ Technical Field or equivalent experience.Work Experience: Prefer 1 to 3 years’ industrial experience. This position can be used as an entry level or for minimal experience in the pulp and paper industry.Skills: You will work with the Counce ProcessControl group on various distributed control systems (DCS) throughout the papermaking process.
  • Daily troubleshooting issues.
  • Extensively utilize computer software for data input and process information systems.
  • Use AutoCAD for fixing loopsheets, elementary, and interconnect drawings.
  • Use Word to edit functional spec documents as equipment is added to DeltaV.
  • Audit and update loopsheets and functional specs in DeltaV.
  • Checkout and startup of IO during down days.
  • Audit corrections of interconnects – removing wire from spares, updating DeltaV, updating interconnects.
  • Work order generation with Trident.
  • CAD updates of drawings, pictures of panel wiring, and final supervision of electricians unwiring IO.

  • Work Safely, Follow all applicable safety guidelines and rules.
  • Report unsafe working conditions, safety issues, hazards.
  • Maintain control systems cyber security via patching, antivirus and hotfixes as needed.
  • Develop action plans for control system changes and control related projects.
  • Serve as technical support for maintenance personnel.
  • Serve on 24-hour call-out rotation, after initial skills are in place.
  • Document all control system changes.
  • Implement or supervise implementation of control changes.
  • Responsible for loop tuning in assigned process area.
  • Serve as advisor for control system training.
