Utilizing a variety of tools to provide comprehensive observability, which aids in proactively identifying and troubleshooting issues, enhancing system performance, and ensuring high availability.Our latest project involves build in-house enterprise level log management solutions. We are seeking a visionary and highly experienced Senior Staff Engineer to play a pivotal role in this initiative and lead the development effort. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional technical expertise, leadership skills, and a strategic mindset to drive the success of our project.Essential Functions
  • Define and drive the technical vision and strategy for our log management system.
  • Lead the architecture and design of complex, mission-critical systems.
  • Collaborate with executives and other stakeholders to align technical goals with business objectives.
  • Mentor and develop engineering talent across the organization.
  • Ensure the implementation of best practices in software development and system design. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, promoting knowledge sharing and professional development
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks and ensure the reliability and scalability of the system.
  • Stay at the forefront of technological advancements and apply them to our work.
  • Collaborate closely with all business units to migrate their knowledge objects from Splunk to Log management solutions.
**We do not expect that any single candidate would fulfill all of these characteristics. For instance, we have exciting team members who are really focused on building scalable systems but didn’t work with payments technology or web applications before joining Visa.This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.QualificationsBasic Qualifications
- 8+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience.Preferred Qualifications
- 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in software development with Bachelor’s or 6+ years with Masters
- Expertise in Golang and Java.
- Good to have knowledge of C, C++, and Python.
- Deep knowledge of observability tools such as Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Fluentbit, etc.,
- Deep knowledge of database technologies, preferably Clickhouse or other columnar databases.
- Strong leadership and strategic thinking abiliites.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven experience in leading large-scale, complex projects.
- Experience with Ansible is an added advantage.
- Must have Unix knowledge.Additional InformationWork Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.
