How you'll make an impact
  • Manages the investigation of insurance risk including approval or rejection of applications for insurance up to a fixed dollar limit of risk.
  • Uses rate books, tables, code books and other reference material to make underwriting determinations.
  • Ensures compliance with all standards and objectives. Assists assigned staff in the resolution of underwriting problems.
  • Has overall responsibility for the Underwriting function within a branch or unit.
  • Directly, and/or through other Managers or Supervisors, responsible for staff who are focused on analyzing risk information, recommending new and renewal rates, and policy terms.
  • May work directly with Producers and/or Carrier Placements staff on regulatory compliance and industry standards within individual state laws and area(s) of coverage. Leads supervisors and staff.
About YouRequired: Bachelor's degree and 5 years related experience required. Computer experience with a variety of applications including Excel and Word and network systems as well as sufficient technological knowledge to facilitate decision-making regarding the direction of the automation systems. Able to drive and travel as needed. In-depth knowledge of the insurance brokerage business.Behaviors: Must be self-directed and have problem-solving capabilities as well as ingenuity in analyzing and resolving complex problems and/or situations. Excellent organizational skills and able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks. Able to effectively lead and direct staff.
