Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/medtechPurpose: Join our innovative R&D team as a Senior Scientist, where you'll play a pivotal role in advancing cutting-edge polymer formulations for Class II and III medical devices. You'll collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to explore the effects of various chemical compounds on polymerization kinetics, device performance, and formulation development. Your expertise will drive projects from concept through scale-up with focus on novel formulations, including monomer and polymer synthesis, raw material analysis, device fabrication, and various characterization methodologies. A strong background in polymerization kinetics, structure-property relationships, organic chemistry, and photochemistry is essential, with the ability to translate bench-top findings into pilot-scale processes.You will:
- Innovate & Develop: Design and optimize novel bulk and surface polymerization chemistries tailored to ophthalmic medical devices, contributing to intellectual property and improving patient outcomes.
- Lead & Collaborate: Drive independent and team-based research initiatives addressing complex challenges, balancing multiple factors simultaneously.
- Literature & Strategy: Leverage scientific literature to craft evidence-based strategies for targeted molecular structures and performance goals.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with organic chemists, analytical chemists, polymer scientists, biochemists, materials scientists, chemical engineers, and medical professionals.
- Regulatory & IP Support: Engage with legal, clinical, quality, and regulatory teams to ensure project alignment and support innovation and compliance.
- A Master’s degree with 8+ years in formulations or PhD in chemistry, polymer science, material science, physical chemistry, or chemical engineering with an emphasis on synthesis, photochemistry, polymers, or polymer physics is required.
- Ability to independently ideate and execute proof-of-concept experiments for novel compounds.
- Strong knowledge of photochemical and photophysical processes is desirable.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Effective communicator with strong oral and written skills, capable of collaborating in multidisciplinary teams.
$89,000-$140,000Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
