The Global Surgical & Heart Failure Marketing Leader is responsible for overseeing the planning, development and execution of the surgical business units marketing and advertising initiatives. Reporting directly to the Business Unit General Manager, and through strong partnership with the Company’s Sr. Director of Global Marketing and Services, the Global Surgical & Heart Failure Marketing leader’s primary responsibility is to generate revenue by increasing sales through successful marketing for the entire surgical organization, using market research, pricing, product marketing, marketing communications, advertising and public relations. Additionally, the Global Surgical & Heart Failure Marketing leader will work with other Company functions for the purposes of sales management, new business development, product development, distribution channel management and customer service. This role will encompass upstream, downstream and clinical marketing activities. Externally, she/he will partner effectively with key opinion leaders and clinicians (surgeons, perfusionists, ECMO specialists, critical care physicians, heart failure cardiologists, and pediatric interventional cardiologists) to identify unmet clinical needs and growth opportunities. The Global Surgical & Heart Failure Marketing leader will have a solid understanding of clinical evidence and develop messaging for the field organization and Leading Medical Devices Company speakers. The ideal candidate for this role is a proven communications strategist who can both lead and “do", with very keen writing, presentation and slide development skills. The candidate should enjoy going deep in clinical science and sharing with a variety of audiences, including internal stakeholders, hospital administrators, physicians and patients.

Core Responsibilities

Design, plan and execute the surgical business marketing initiatives
Report directly to the General Manager of the Surgical Business and the Sr. Director of Global Marketing and Services
Identify key adoption barriers in referral pathways and devise programs to overcome these barriers
Review clinical literature, build clinical arguments, and create “physician to physician” presentations for KOLs and field team to expand awareness and adoption of our surgical product suite as the preferred treatment option
Develop educational resources assets and tools in collaboration with the Medical Office
Responsible for content development and lifecycle: presentations, clinical dossiers, claims matrix, website content, brochures, case studies, FAQs, etc.
Continually assess target markets, including evolving technology and healthcare trends, competitive dynamics, unmet needs, and geographic-specific factors
Partner with internal and external stakeholders to identify growth opportunities and unmet patient, clinician and business needs by patient, physician implanter and hospital segments
Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of current literature, emerging science, technological developments and trends on relevant therapies and competitive products, and effectively disseminate clinical evidence & relevant publications

Required Qualifications

10+ years of marketing experience with a solid business acumen
10+ years of managing people with a demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team
Knowledge of cardiac surgery, mechanical circulatory support, heart failure, ECLS/ECMO markets
Deep understanding of changing market dynamics
Demonstrated ability to conceive, develop and implement tactical marketing plans
Ability to understand, interpret and manage clinical data from both presentations and publications
Ability to effectively influence and collaborate with multiple stakeholders
Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills for a wide variety of audiences, including sales & marketing leadership
Ability to develop strong relationships with customers, and cross-functional partners
Bachelors degree required and an advanced degree in marketing or business (MBA) is preferred
Exceptional PowerPoint and presentation skills
Demonstrated success in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
